Veteran Socialist, Trinidad de la Cuba

The Cuban people seem to remain very loyal to the revolution even if they now feel frustrated and disaffected. I met this veteran of '59 in Trinidad de la Cuba. A contemporary of Castro, Guevara & Cienfuegos, he now survives by selling cigarettes, paintings & political pamphlets from his front parlour. Pictures on the wall show him in earlier times as a delegate to an international socialist congress.

Connemara Again

I'd just run the Connemara half marathon with my brother, Shane back in March '09. We came back via Roundstone and stopped off in O'Dowd's for some well earned fish'n'chips.

Africa Day, Iveagh Gardens 2010

The Solanke Brothers, Moyo (6), Nekan (21) and Diji (15), from Drogheda.

I covered Africa Day 2009 & 2010 for DHR Communications, it was great to photograph.
I am currently reviewing images to be included on my website which is coming soon and will include a comprehensive Africa Day gallery.

Viking Place, Arbour Hill

It just caught my eye. I like the indications of how it is used by the community and its mute palate. I was rambling around the Arbour Hill area one afternoon last summer. My father was born around the corner on Malachi Rd.

New Year's Day 2011

I spent New Year's with friends in Oughterard, the gateway to The West. It's a special place, Connemara, God's own country. I'd like to spend more time there, photographing it more extensively. It is layered with history, fields of old potato drills can still be seen half way up mountain sides. These images are of Loughaunierin, just off the N59 between Oughterard and Maam Cross. The old Galway to Clifden railway line ran along the far shore of the lake.
