The Cuban people seem to remain very loyal to the revolution even if they now feel frustrated and disaffected. I met this veteran of '59 in Trinidad de la Cuba. A contemporary of Castro, Guevara & Cienfuegos, he now survives by selling cigarettes, paintings & political pamphlets from his front parlour. Pictures on the wall show him in earlier times as a delegate to an international socialist congress.

Viking Place, Arbour Hill
New Year's Day 2011
I spent New Year's with friends in Oughterard, the gateway to The West. It's a special place, Connemara, God's own country. I'd like to spend more time there, photographing it more extensively. It is layered with history, fields of old potato drills can still be seen half way up mountain sides. These images are of Loughaunierin, just off the N59 between Oughterard and Maam Cross. The old Galway to Clifden railway line ran along the far shore of the lake.
